Flood situation: 20 districts of Sindh declared calamity effected,more monsoon rains forecast in Sindh and Balochistan

 The government of Pakistan's Sindh province has announced that 20 districts have been declared calamity effected due to heavy rains during the current monsoon.


According to the Sindh government's notification, these include six districts of Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Dadu, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot Tharparkar, Shaheed Benazirabad and Sanghar.

The Deputy Commissioners of all these districts have been directed to take steps to assess the losses and pay the compensation.

It may be recalled that after the torrential rains in some parts of Pakistan including Karachi, relief activities are being carried out by the civil administration and the army but the Meteorological Department has forecast more rains in the next two days.

In many parts of Sindh, monsoon rains have affected people's homes, businesses and lives, while for the past two days, there have been problems of non-availability of basic necessities like electricity, gas and mobile service.
