Confession of FC official accused of killing Hayat Baloch

Police in Pakistan's Balochistan Province say a Frontier Corps paramilitary officer who killed young student Hayat Baloch in Turbat has pleaded guilty before a magistrate.Hayat Baloch was with his parents near the site of a bomb blast in Turbat on August 13 when he was shot by one of the FC personnel after the blast.Initially, a case of Hayat Baloch's death was registered against an 'unknown' official at the instigation of his brother Muhammad Murad, but later FC officials handed over the shooter Shahidullah to the police According to Turbat Najib Pendrani, he was also identified by Hayat Baloch's father who was present at the time of the incident.According to Turbat police, after the one-week physical remand of the accused ended, he was produced in the court of the local magistrate on Wednesday where the accused has recorded his confession under section 164.According to the police, after the statement was recorded, the accused was sent to jail on judicial remand by the court and they said that the confessional statement of the accused in the court has further strengthened the case.

It should be noted that in Pakistan, the statement recorded before a magistrate is accepted by the courts during the trial, while on the contrary, the confessional statement of the accused given to the police during interrogation is not accepted by the court as evidence and to prove it. So the police have to rely on more evidence.

Arriving at the scene, it was learned that the FC vehicle was slightly damaged in the blast and the personnel were injured. However, no casualties were reported but there was another tragic scene. A young man was lying on the road covered in blood, while an elderly man and woman were crying. The young man was Hayat Baloch and the elders were his mother and father.

According to the police official, a large number of people were also present there. They were standing around the scene. They were angry and were not allowed to proceed.

What is the position of FC?

A spokesman for FC South said in a press release issued on Wednesday that "on August 13, terrorists targeted the FC convoy with IEDs at Absar and three personnel, including a subedar, were killed in the attack." Seriously injured People in the area, including Hayat Baloch, were being questioned in connection with the attack when an officer, Naik Shahidullah, opened fire in a very irresponsible manner, injuring a young student, Hayat Baloch. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

According to the statement, "Other FC personnel present at the spot apprehended the accused and seized his weapon. Upon receipt of the basic departmental investigation, the IGFC immediately issued orders to hand over the accused to the police."
