Who was Hasil Bizenjo?
Born: February 3, 1958 (age 62 years)
Party: National Party
Parents: Ghaus Bakhsh Bizenjo
Education: University of Karachi
Office: Member of the Senate of Pakistan since 2009Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo belonged to the province of Balochistan in Pakistan. He participated in the 1991 by-elections as an independent
He was formally elected to the Balochistan National Party in 1997. In 1998, he joined the Balochistan National Democratic Party, a party that sprang from the Balochistan National Party. However, the National Party was formed in 2003, with Hasil Bizenjo joining.
Hasil Bizenjo, a frequent advocate for democracy, boycotted the 2008 general election but was elected to the Senate in 2009 on a National Party ticket.
Hasil Bizenjo has been a staunch supporter and strong ally of the PML-N in the federation. In the 2013 elections, his party formed an alliance with the PML-N. Bizenjo, who was elected president of the National Party in 2014, was given the port and shipping ministry in 2015.
He had also contested the election of the Chairman of the Senate, and when Sadiq Sanjarani was elected as the Chairman, Hasil Bizenjo strongly condemned the decision on the floor of the Assembly and said, The Senate has been elected.
Reacting to his defeat after the failure of the Senate election results, the joint opposition candidate Hasil Bizenjo accused Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed, the head of Pakistan's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), of alleged interference in political affairs.
Mir Hasil Bizenjo has been an ally of PML-N and Mian Nawaz Sharif since the 1990s, while ideologically inheriting progressive politics. Mir Hasil Bizenjo said on this political alliance that "it is just a coincidence."
"When we win, Nawaz Sharif wins. When he loses, we lose too." Therefore, stay with them in the opposition and stay with them in the government. But at present, Nawaz Sharif's Muslim League has taken a very anti-establishment stance. Of course it cannot be called a liberal or progressive party. But it has to be put in a liberal box.
Mir Hasil Bizenjo's father Mir Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo stayed with the Pakistan People's Party in the Restoration of Democracy movement. He had also offered arrest from Lyari but later a rift arose between the two parties.
Hasil Khan Bizenjo, while talking about Balochistan several times in the House, had said that "the state has committed many injustices there as a result of which the insurgency there has not abated."
Mir Hasil started politics as a student. He studied at Karachi University and was once injured in a group attack during the rule of General Zia-ul-Haq.
